🔷 Week 6 – Cubism (Pablo Picasso)
Cubism changed the way people thought about art. Instead of showing objects from one viewpoint, artists began to show multiple perspectives at once.
Pablo Picasso was one of the pioneers of this movement. He broke objects into geometric shapes and rearranged them to create abstract compositions.
Cubist artworks can look confusing at first, but they challenge us to see things differently. They show that art doesn’t always have to look realistic to be meaningful.
This week’s homework helps students explore shape, structure, and perspective, encouraging them to think creatively about how they represent objects.
Artist Inspiration: Pablo Picasso
Task Focus: Shape, perspective, abstraction
🌱 Start Here:
Break an object into basic shapes
🌿 Build It:
Show multiple angles in one drawing
🌳 Take It Further:
Create a balanced abstract composition using fragmented forms
Reflect:
“How many viewpoints can I see at once?”
