The Creative Wellbeing Experience
Building Confidence Through Creativity
Meaningful creative experiences. Personal connection. Opportunities to thrive.
At Sharz Art Design, we believe creativity has no age limit.
Our Creative Wellbeing Framework brings thoughtfully designed art experiences to older adults in aged care facilities and retirement communities. Through achievable, flexible and inclusive activities, participants have opportunities to express themselves, share their stories, discover new skills and enjoy the pleasure of creating.
The focus is not on producing perfect artwork. It is on the individual, their experiences and the opportunity to participate in a way that feels right for them.
More Than an Art Activity
The Creative Wellbeing Framework is built around a simple idea:
The artwork is the vehicle. The person is the focus.
Our approach encourages:
-
Confidence through creative achievement.
-
Meaningful social connection and conversation.
-
Opportunities for self-expression and creativity.
-
Participation, enjoyment and a sense of belonging.
-
Recognition of every individual’s efforts and achievements.
Designed Around the Individual
Everyone has different interests, experiences and abilities. Our activities are adapted to suit individual needs, with flexibility in the choice of subject, materials and level of assistance.
Whether someone is an experienced artist or picking up a paintbrush for the first time, there is an opportunity to take part and enjoy the experienc
What Might a Program Look Like?
Programs can include a variety of subjects and art materials, such as watercolour, oil pastel, soft pastel, drawing and collage.
A ten-week program might explore trees, flowers, animals, houses and familiar places, with each activity offering a different creative experience.
Programs are developed to suit the participants and the facility. The example program is flexible rather than a fixed curriculum.
About the Framework
The Creative Wellbeing Framework was developed by Sharlene Cormack, founder of Sharz Art Design, drawing on her background in fine arts and education and her experience teaching people of all ages.
Sharlene believes older adults deserve opportunities to continue creating, learning, connecting and being celebrated.
Everyone deserves to play a little sometimes.
